Ismael Rivera
Ismael Rivera (born October 5, 1931 in Loiza Aldea , Puerto Rico , † May 13, 1987 ) was one of the most influential singers in Puerto Rico. It was very popular across the Caribbean in the 1950s .
Life
Since his childhood he has been playing with his friend Rafael Cortijo , with whom he recorded several successful pieces from 1954. His distinctive and expressive voice was soon known throughout the Caribbean. Rivera was already a legend by the 1970s. He promoted several young salsa musicians such as Rubén Blades and Ismael Miranda and became a role model for many others.
