Iso-kalla

Iso-Kalla is a lake system in the Savo region of Finland . It has a total area of ​​890 km² and consists of several lakes that are connected by Sunde . The Iso-Kalla in turn is part of the large water system that is drained by the Vuoksi River.

The main lakes of the Iso-Kalla are:

  • the central lake Kallavesi
  • the Suvasvesi lake , which the Vehmersalmi Sound connects with the Kallavesi in the southeast
  • the Juurusvesi , Muuruvesi and Melavesi lakes , which the Jännevirta Sound connects with the central part of the Kallavesi
  • the Riistavesi lake , which the Susivirta Sound connects with the southern part of the Melavesi.

The towns of Juankoski , Kuopio and Nilsiä as well as the municipalities of Leppävirta and Siilinjärvi are in the Iso-Kalla area .
