The Kallavesi [ ˈkɑlːɑvɛsi ] is a lake in the Finnish region of Savo . Km² with an area of 478.1, it is the largest lake in the countryside Savo and the tenth largest lake in Finland. The lake is located in the territory of the city of Kuopio and the municipality of Siilinjärvi . The city center of Kuopio is located on a peninsula in the Kallavesi.
Together with the Suvasvesi , Juurusvesi , Muuruvesi , Melavesi and Riistavesi lakes , the Kallavesi forms an 890 km² lake system known as Iso-Kalla . This in turn is part of the vast water system that is drained by the Vuoksi River.
