An isobarometer or keg filler is a device used by beverage manufacturers and breweries to fill special carbonated beverages under pressure into containers, especially kegs .

The drum filler consists of a supply pressure vessel with a filling valve for the gas- tight connection to the container to be filled and an additional pressure gas connection . CO 2 is mostly used as the compressed gas . The storage vessel is filled with the product under pressure.

Filling process:

  1. One after the other, each barrel to be filled is connected gas- tight via the filling fitting and pressurized with compressed gas, so that the same pressure builds up in the barrel as in the storage vessel.
  2. The pressurized gas is shut off and the supply line from the storage pressure vessel is opened so that the filling material runs into the barrel due to gravity without being relieved of pressure. As a result, it does not foam and the carbonic acid content remains unchanged.
