Isobel Campbell (born April 27, 1976 in Glasgow ) is a British singer .

Career

Campbell was a member of the band Belle and Sebastian until 2002 . From 1999 she worked on her solo project The Gentle Waves and released several albums. In 2003 the solo album Amorino followed . While there were still strong echoes of the catchy indie pop of their previous bands on this album , it was clearly inspired by darker folk and Americana themes afterwards . This applies to both her solo album Milkwhite Sheets and her collaboration with Mark Lanegan , with whom she recorded an EP and two albums. Campbell writes and produces much of her own material.
