The Isometopinae are a subfamily of the soft bugs (Miridae) from the suborder Cimicomorpha .
features
In contrast to the other soft bugs, the Isometopinae have ocelles . The compound eyes are often holoptic , that is, they touch in the middle. The head is unusually shaped. It is often flattened towards the back. The adults have a strongly arched body. At least the males are always macroporous and able to fly. The tarsi are bipartite in contrast to the other subfamilies that have tripartite tarsi.
Occurrence and way of life
The subfamily is predominantly tropical. About 175 genera are known worldwide . In Europe there are 2 genera with 4 species, in North America there are 5 genera with 8 species.
The bugs are considered to be specialized predators of scale insects .
