The Istanbul Congres Center , ICC for short , ( Turkish : İstanbul Kongre Merkezi ) is a convention center in the Şişli district of Istanbul . The ICC belongs to the city of Istanbul and is operated by the company Rixos.

history

The large complex opened on October 17, 2009 with the annual meeting of the IMF and the World Bank.

location

The building complex is located on Taşkışla Caddesi in the Harbiye district of Istanbul (Şişli district) around 400 meters north of Taksim Square above Maçka Parkı and a slope that slopes down to the Bosphorus . To the west is the military museum, to the south the convention center and a hotel belonging to the Hilton Hotels . Another congress center, the ICEC, is located northeast of the ICC.

building

In the first basement there are seven conference rooms with a total of around 509 m² and seating capacity for 488 people. The largest hall in the congress center is 3,028 m² and can accommodate up to 3,705 people. The Harbiye Auditorium extends over three floors and is accessed via the second basement. On the same floor there are eight more rooms with between 87 and 1300 m². In the third basement there are 90 smaller rooms for workshops and group meetings. On floors B4 and B5 there are exhibition halls with 4278 m², 5753 m² and 6065 m² and ceiling heights of four and seven meters. There are parking spaces for up to 850 vehicles on the last two basement floors. The ICC is connected underground to the Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center (ICEC) opposite.

architecture

Above ground, the building complex consists of an elongated building block with a roof sloping to the southwest. in the center the building is broken up by a cube towering over everything. The basement floors are curved towards the south and look out of the ground through the hillside so that daylight penetrates through the glazed front. In front of the building is a 6000 m² square with a fountain.
