István Bárczy
István Bárczy (born October 3, 1866 in Pest , † June 1, 1943 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian politician and lawyer.
Following the 1906 elections, he was elected Mayor of Budapest on June 19 and held the post until 1918. Under his leadership, a program for urban development was drawn up and schools, trams, residential buildings and other social and cultural facilities were built. In Hungary, which was badly affected by the First World War , he was also briefly under discussion as Prime Minister. From November 24, 1919 to March 15, 1920 he was Hungary's Minister of Justice . From 1920 to 1931 he was a member of the Hungarian House of Representatives, first for the National Democratic Citizens' Party and then for various free-thinking associations .
