István Gaál (2005)

István Gaál (born August 25, 1933 in Salgótarján , † September 25, 2007 Budapest ) was a Hungarian film director .

Life

István Gaál trained as an electrical engineer before studying at the Academy of Cinematography in Budapest and the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. The central theme of his films is the conflict between the individual and society. "He has been trained in documentaries so that he can also create authentic images of social reality in his feature films." At the Cannes International Film Festival in 1970 , Gaál and Magasiskola won the jury's prize.
