Ivan Aralica

Ivan Aralica (born September 10, 1930 in Puljane , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian writer and is considered one of the most important Croatian writers of the second half of the 20th century . Since 1992 he has been a full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts .

Aralica completed a school education in Knin and graduated with a degree in South Slavic Studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zadar . Due to his participation in the Croatian Spring , he lost his position as a high school director in Zadar and his mandate in Sabor . In the course of the political changes in 1990, he returned to politics as a member of the HDZ . In the 1993 elections he was elected MP and Vice President of the House of Counties . He resigned from his political office in 2000.

He mentions Knut Hamsun , Isaac Bashevis Singer , Thomas Mann , Truman Capote and Aldous Huxley as literary role models . The Školska knjiga publishing house published its collected works from 2010 to 2019 (a total of 35 books).
