Astrid Philippsen

Astrid Philippsen (born February 8, 1942 in Küstrin ) is a German literary translator .

Life

Astrid Philippsen passed the matriculation examination in Dresden in 1960 . She then studied at the Berlin Humboldt University and in Belgrade a study of Slavic studies , she with the degree of Diplom-Slawistin completed. From 1966 she worked as a lecturer and editor at the Berlin Aufbau-Verlag . After the mid- sixties had begun translations to be published, she made translating 1973 Main profession. Today she lives as a freelance translator in Berlin.

Astrid Philippsen translates narrative works, poems and radio plays from Serbian , Croatian , Bosnian and Slovenian into German . Philippsen is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ. In 2000 she was awarded the Paul Celan Prize .
