Janko Ferk
Janko Ferk (born December 11, 1958 in Sankt Kanzian am Klopeiner See / Škocijan ob Klopinjskem jezeru, Carinthia ) is an Austrian judge , scientist and writer .
Life
Janko Ferk studied German philology and history as well as law at the University of Vienna and graduated with a Mag. Phil. and Dr. iur. from. He is a judge at the Klagenfurt Regional Court and honorary professor for literary studies at the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt / Univerza v Celovcu, where he headed the multilateral university course “Strategic Cooperation Management”.
He is a writer and literary translator.
He was a member of the advisory board for literary translators and was a member of the commission for compliance with the broadcasting law in the Federal Chancellery . Most recently he was chairman of a senate on the broadcasting commission. He was and is a member of various literary advisory boards and juries in the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture . In the Association of Austrian Judges , he was a participant in the “Working Group on Ethics” and is co-author of an ethics declaration of the association, which was adopted on November 8, 2007 and named after its place of origin (“Wels Declaration”).
Janko Ferk is an international member of the editorial board of the journal Zbornik znanstvenih razprav (Scientific Yearbook) of the Law Faculty of the University of Ljubljana . He regularly publishes legal articles and works for legal journals. He writes peer reviews for the Law Faculty of the University of Ljubljana . He lectures at universities abroad, including Stanford University in Palo Alto , California, and gave a presentation on Franz Kafka ( Academy And Monkey ) at the 2011 Convention of the US Modern Language Association in Los Angeles . He has given around two hundred literary readings at home and abroad and published in more than one hundred literary anthologies in Austria, Germany, Slovenia, the USA and other countries. He regularly writes book reviews and guest comments for the daily newspaper Die Presse .
He is the initiator and co-founder of the web lexicon of Carinthian Slovenian literature www.slolit.at . The Lexicon Profiles of Modern Slovene Literature in Carinthia (Ed. Johann Strutz , Hermagoras Verlag , Klagenfurt / Celovec) goes back to his initiative . At Hermagoras Verlag he gave the suggestion for the book series “Austriaca”, in which Austrian authors appear in Slovenian translation, and for the edition “Slovenica”, in which Slovenian authors are published in German translation.
He is a member of the editorial board of the Austria Forum , a general knowledge platform with a focus on Austria, designed by independent scientists and made available to the general public.
His scientific research focuses on literature and law. He is an internationally renowned cofcologist .
