Ivan I. Drašković

Ivan I. Drašković (* (?) Bilina Castle in Croatia ; † September 7, 1566 (?) In Szigetvár , Hungary ), was a Croatian nobleman from the Drašković family .

Life

He was the son of Bartolomäus Drašković (Croatian Bartol Drašković ) and his wife Anna Drašković born. Utješinović. Like his older brothers Georg (Croatian `` Juraj '') and Kaspar (Croatian `` Gašpar ''), he was most likely born in Bilina Castle , west of Knin .

He is mentioned in several family charter and as a cavalry commander. According to available historical sources, he died young in 1566 during the Battle of Szigetvár , side by side with his commander-in-chief Nikola Šubić Zrinski .

Ivan I. Drašković had no offspring. The aristocratic family Drašković is continued by Ivan's brother Kaspar (who got the Trakošćan Castle from the Croatian-Hungarian King Maximilian in 1569 ) and his son John II (Croatian Ivan II), who later became Ban of Croatia .
