Ivan Charles Rabb (born February 4, 1997 in Oakland , California ) is an American basketball player .
career
Rabb developed at Bishop O'Dowd High School to one of the most hopeful players of his class in the US state of California and was also led in the national talent rankings at the top. In his senior season he averaged 24.5 points, 16.3 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game.
From the 2015/16 game year, Rabb was part of the basketball team at the University of California, Berkeley and promptly became a top performer. In his freshman season he was always in the starting line-up in 34 appearances, averaged 12.5 points and got 8.6 rebounds per encounter. Rabb increased these values in his second and final year at college when he recorded 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per encounter.
In spring 2017, he left the University of California and became a professional basketball player. In the Draft process of the NBA in June 2017, his rights in the second selection round went to the Orlando Magic , which Rabb then gave to the Memphis Grizzlies .
In his first year as a professional (2017/18) Rabb was used both in Memphis in the NBA and in the training team of the Grizzlies ( Memphis Hustle ) in the NBA G-League . In the NBA, the Californian, who was in fourth place in particular, was on the field in 36 games and scored an average of 5.6 points and 4.4 rebounds. There were also 18 games in a Memphis Hustle shirt with an average of 15.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per encounter. In October 2019, he was removed from the roster by the Memphis Grizzlies and shortly thereafter bound by the New York Knicks by two-way contract, but released again in January 2020.
National team
With the US U16 national team, he won the American Championship in 2013 and the 2014 World Championship with the U17 selection.
