Ivan Rudež (born December 22, 1979 ) is a Croatian basketball coach .

Life

Rudež worked for the Croatian club BC Zrinjevac from 2004, first as a youth coach, then as an assistant coach of the men's team, in the 2006/07 season then as head coach in the second division of his home country.

In summer 2007, the elder brother of the Croatian basketball champs was Damjan Rudez for a US player representation agency as talented faces in the U20 European Championship active, the game of 2007/08, he joined the office of the head coach at the Slovakian first division BC Prievidza and worked to this point to End of the 2009/10 season. Rudež returned to Croatia and worked as an assistant coach for the first division club KK Cedevita in 2010/2011 . During the summer break of 2011, he took over the coaching position at the Austrian Bundesliga club BC Vienna , and at the end of November 2011, due to the difficult sporting situation, Rudež and the Viennese separated. Under the Croatian leadership, the team had won three games and lost six. In the same year he became assistant to coaching luminary Jasmin Repeša at Cibona Zagreb , where he contributed to winning the Croatian championship title in 2012.

In 2012 Rudež became the head coach of the Swiss national league team Lions de Genève , which he led to winning the championship title and the league cup in 2013 and 2015. In 2014 he won the national cup competition with Geneva. In the 2012/13 and 2014/15 seasons he was voted National League Coach of the Year by the internet service eurobasket.com .

In 2016 he left Geneva and became the Slovak national coach. He looked after the national team until 2018, in November 2018 he took over the post of head coach at the German second division PS Karlsruhe as the successor to the dismissed Michael Mai . He led the team in the further course of the 2018/19 season as eighth in the ProA finals, in which they were eliminated in the quarter-finals with 0: 3 wins against Chemnitz. He was released in early February 2020. At this point the Karlsruhe team was in 15th place in the table with seven wins and 15 defeats. In April 2020 he was introduced as the new head coach of the Dutch first division club Donar Groningen.
