Ivan Seibel

Ivan Seibel (born August 1, 1947 in Santa Leopoldina ) is a German-Brazilian doctor, author and translator .

Life

Ivan Seibel was born in the state of Espírito Santo and has German ancestors. From 1974 he studied medicine at the Federal University of Health Sciences in Porto Alegre . In 1998 he completed his Masters in Medicine and Health Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul and received his PhD in Medical Clinic - Nephrology here in 2002 . He practiced with a focus on urology and later became professor of general surgery. He was a doctor in the Ministry of Health and clinical director of the São Sebastião Mártir hospital. He published in the medical field and on Pomeranian immigration to Brazil. In 2014 he translated the book My Journey in the Brazilian Tropics (Chapters 16-18) published by Therese von Bayern in 1897 into Portuguese.

Ivan Seibel is married to Stella Maris Moesch (* 1949) and with her they have the children Vanessa (* 1974), Guilherme (* 1975), Ivan (* 1977) and Thomas (* 1986).
