Ivan Semedi
Iwan Semedi (born June 26, 1921 in Velká Kopaň , Czechoslovakia ; † December 6, 2008 ) was bishop of the Mukacheve eparchy of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine .
Life
Iwan Semedi received the ordination of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church on July 6, 1947 .
Since 1978 he was secret bishop of the Ruthenian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine and active as auxiliary bishop in the Mukacheve eparchy; he was ordained bishop on August 24, 1978. In 1983 he was appointed Bishop of Mukacheve. In 1991 he was confirmed by Pope John Paul II as Bishop of Mukachevo of the Byzantine Rite with his seat in Uzhhorod .
His age-related resignation was granted in 2002 by John Paul II.
