Ivar Must

Ivar Must (born May 7, 1961 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian composer and music producer.

Life and music

Ivar Must was born under the Russian name Igor Tsõganov ( Russian Игорь Цыганов ). While the Estonian SSR was still in existence, the family estonized the surname in Must .

He attended the 26th middle school in the Estonian capital Tallinn. From 1978 he studied choir conducting and piano at the music school "Georg Ots" in Tallinn. In 1981 he enrolled at the Pedagogical Institute in Tallinn in the field of orchestral conducting. However, the course remained unfinished.

From 1985 to 1990 Must played the piano in the Estonian band "Lainer ja Nemo". With the end of the Soviet Union , Must went to Finland . From 1990 to 1994 he played as a musician in various restaurants. In addition, he composed and produced music.

In 1994 he took part in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time as a composer . His song Nagu merelaine was second to last in Dublin . In the following years Must worked closely with several Estonian bands such as "Tiiu", "Miss II Miss" and " 2XL ". Must achieved his greatest musical success to date at the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest . He wrote the music for the Estonian winning track Everybody , which was performed by Tanel Padar and Dave Benton .

In autumn 2011 insolvency proceedings were initiated against Musts Label Ivar Must Production OÜ .

Private life

Ivar Must is married to Enel Eha. The couple have a daughter.
