Ivar Vidfamne
Ivar Vidfamne (Old Icelandic Ívar ínn víðfaðmi ) was a legendary king of Sweden and Denmark in the 7th century. He was mentioned in various Icelandic sagas .
Ivar is said to have been the first Swedish king from the Sköldungar family. At the end of his life, his dominion is said to have extended over Sweden ( Svíaveldi ), Denmark ( Danaveldi ), Northumbria , Northern Germany ( Saxland ), Kurland ( Kúrland ) and the Baltic States ( Eistland ) ( Hervararsaga ).
Ivar was the minor king of Skåne . He is said to have become King of Sweden around 635. His daughter Auðr was married to King Hrœrekr Ringslinger of Zealand . He later killed this one. Auðr fled to Garðariki and married the local king Ráðbarðr . In 695 Ivar is said to have followed her east with a fleet. He is said to have died in Karjálabotnar ( Karelia ).
The various sagas give partially different information about the origin, descendants, rule and death of Ivar.
