The Iveco-Magirus 90-16 Turbo is a two-axle front - wheel drive truck that was built by Iveco-Magirus AG from 1986 to at least 1992. The federal government purchased 636 units of this vehicle as a fire fighting group vehicle 16 with a portable pump (shown in the picture on the right), it is still in use today (June 2016) by fire departments.
technology
The 90-16 AW Turbo is a two-axle front-link truck with a ladder frame and two axles with steel disc wheels. The basic design of the cab going to the Club of Four developed MK series of Magirus-Deutz back. The front axle has single tires, the rear axle has twin tires. All axles are driven, the differential gear of the rear axle can be locked. Braking is carried out with a compressed air-assisted two-circuit hydraulic brake system. The drive power is transmitted from the engine to a five- or six-speed gearbox via a Sachs clutch . This means that the 90-16 AW Turbo has a climbing ability of 50% when the maximum permissible total weight of 9000 kg is used. The engine is an in-line six-cylinder Deutz BF 6 L 913, an air-cooled four-stroke diesel engine with hanging valves, side camshaft and direct injection, it develops 118 kW (160 hp).
The fire fighting group vehicles built on the chassis of the 90-16 AW Turbo have a tilting crew cabin designed for a fire fighting group of nine people. A box body with five equipment compartments, which contains fire-fighting equipment, is attached behind the crew cabin. The fire extinguishing centrifugal pump is a front-mounted pump FP 16/8 according to DIN 14420, which pumps 1.6 m 3 of water per minute at 8 bar delivery pressure and a geodetic nominal suction height of 3 m.
