Ivon Anthony Moore-Brabazon, 3rd Baron Brabazon of Tara (born December 20, 1946 ) is a British peer and politician.

life and career

Moore-Brabazon is the son of Derek Moore-Brabazon, 2nd Baron Brabazon of Tara , and Henrietta Mary Clegg. He attended Harrow School and then worked in the freight industry.

He inherited his father's title on December 11, 1974. Since 1983 he has regularly participated in House of Lords debates. From 1984 to 1986 he served as the government whip . From 1989 to 1990 he was Minister of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and from 1990 to 1992 in the Department of Transport . After the change of government Moore-Brabazon took over the office of the opposition spokesman for transport from 1998 to 2000. Since 1993 he has been Deputy Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight .

Even after the House of Lords Act 1999 , he continues to hold his seat in the House of Lords as an elected hereditary peer . In 2001 he was elected Chairman of the Administration and Works Committee and as a result became a Crossbencher . Before that he was a member of the Conservative Party . He is currently listed as an "independent member".

From 2001 to 2002 he was Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees . Since 2002 he has been Chairman of Committees and Deputy Speaker .

family

Moore-Brabazon has been married to Harriet Frances Hamilton since September 8, 1979 and has a son, Benjamin Moore-Brabazon (* 1983), and a daughter, Anabel Mary Moore-Brabazon (* 1985).
