Trivia

The island is briefly mentioned in the Italian documentary La donna nel mondo (Eng .: All women in the world ) from 1963. According to the film, a retired Scottish colonel, Roger Hopkins, was living on the island at the time with 84 women and 52 children. The film claims the women were between 13 and 18 years old. Hopkins, who was much older than his wives, was introduced as deaf and dumb, but he wore a hearing aid in his right ear during the recording. He is shown smoking a pipe, wearing flimsy European clothing, but no other objects of European origin appear on the island.
