Iwan Iwanow (middle distance runner)
Iwan Iwanow ( Russian Иван Иванов , English transcription Ivan Ivanov ; born June 26, 1948 in Archipowka) is a former Soviet middle-distance runner .
Life
At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1970 in Vienna, he won gold in the mixed relay.
In 1972 he won silver at the European Indoor Championships in Grenoble in the 800 m and 4 x 720 m relay. At the Olympic Games in Munich he was eliminated over 1500 m in the preliminary run and reached the semifinals over 800 m.
In 1972 he was the Soviet champion over 800 m. In the hall he won the national title in 1971 over 800 m and 1973 over 1500 m.
