Ivan Kinov

Ivan Atanassow Kinow ( Bulgarian Иван Атанасов Кинов ; born April 25, 1893 in Lyutibrod , † January 2, 1967 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian politician and colonel general .

Life

From 1911 he belonged to the later Bulgarian Communist Party . He took part in the September uprising of 1923 and then emigrated to the Soviet Union . There he became a member of the Red Army . In 1929 he graduated from the Frunze Military Academy , and in 1938 the General Staff Academy of the USSR .

After the Communists came to power in Bulgaria on September 9, 1944, he returned to Bulgaria and took part in building up the Bulgarian Army . From 1944 to 1949 he was chief of the Bulgarian general staff. From 1945 to 1950 and from 1955 to 1962 he was a member of the party's central committee . From 1954 to 1960 he was Bulgarian Deputy Minister for People's Defense.

He dealt with military theory and published on military history. Kinow was awarded the Georgi Dimitrov order .
