Ivan Timofeevich Frolov

Ivan Timofejewitsch Frolow ( Russian Иван Тимофеевич Фролов ; born September 1, 1929 , † November 18, 1999 in Moscow ) was a philosopher, journalist and politician of the USSR .

Life

From 1968 to 1977 Frolov was editor-in-chief of the Russian magazine Voprossy filosofii (Questions of Philosophy), 1986 to 1987 editor-in-chief of the magazine Kommunist (the theoretical and political organ of the Central Committee of the CPSU ) and from 1989 to 1991 editor-in-chief of Pravda . He was also a member of the Academy of Science of the USSR. From 1989 to 1991 he was secretary of the Central Committee ( Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union ) and from 1990 to 1991 a full member of the Politburo of the CPSU. Since 1986 he has been a close advisor to the General Secretary of the CPSU Mikhail Gorbachev on philosophical and ideological issues and supported him in reform efforts ( perestroika and glasnost ) in the CPSU and in the Soviet Union.

Frolov is an expert in questions of dialectical materialism and epistemology , the philosophy of natural history , modern humanism and the social and philosophical problems of the technical revolution. His research is devoted to the history of science and philosophy of science , global problems of our time, the comprehensive study of man , social-ethical and humanistic questions of the development of science and technology, philosophy and history of biology and genetics , problems of the meaning of life and death of man. He published more than 450 works, many of which have been published in different countries around the world.
