Ichibē Ivano IX. ( Japanese 九 代 岩 野 市 兵衛 , Kyūdai Iwano Ichibē , real name: Iwano Ichirō ( 岩 野 市 郎 ); born September 28, 1933 in Imadate in Fukui Prefecture ) is a Japanese artisan who makes hand-made Japanese paper . It was declared on June 6, 2002 as a living national treasure for the important intangible cultural asset "Manufacture of Japanese paper".

After graduating from middle school, he learned the trade from his father Ichibē Iwano VIII, who was also a living national treasure, in the family business in Echizen . In 1978 he took over his father's stage name, which he continues in the ninth generation. Iwano produces hand-made Hōsho paper according to old tradition, which is used for calligraphy and color wood printing. This type of Japanese paper is obtained from the bark of the mulberry tree ( , kōzo ). The Hōsho paper was used in the Momoyama period by the court and aristocracy for official documents. Ichibē was also awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure (4th class or officer) in 2002.
