The Iwate ( Japanese 岩手 山 , Iwate-san ) is a mountain in the Ōu Mountains within sight of the Japanese city of Morioka , the capital of the northern Japanese prefecture of Iwate .
The Iwate has a height of 2038.2 meters and is also called Iwate- Fuji ( 岩手 富士 ) or Nambu-Fuji ( 南部 富士 ) because of its shape . He's a volcano ; the last time there was a minor eruption in 1919, during which water vapor escaped. In the years 1998 to 2003 minor volcanic earthquakes were observed.
