Ján Geleta (born September 13, 1943 in Partizánske , Slovak state ) is a former Czechoslovak football player . He was considered a persistent, strong midfielder.

Career

Ján Geleta started playing football in his hometown with Iskra Partizánske . In 1962 the midfielder was committed by Dukla Prague , for whom he played until 1976. With Dukla Geleta was three times Czechoslovakian champion and three times cup winner . He played 283 first division games in which he scored 27 goals. In 1967 he was voted Czechoslovak Footballer of the Year.

From 1977 to 1979 he played for Motorlet Prague and then ended his active career. He later worked as a youth coach at his former club Dukla Prague.

Between 1964 and 1970 Geleta played 19 times for the Czechoslovak national team and scored two goals. He took part in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and won the silver medal with the Czechoslovak team.
