János Ittzés

János Ittzés (born June 18, 1944 in Csorna ) is a Hungarian Lutheran theologian . From 2000 to 2011 he was bishop of the West Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary and from 2006 to 2011 at the same time the leading bishop of the Hungarian regional church.

Live and act

János Ittzés studied theology at the Evangelical Lutheran Academy in Budapest from 1962 to 1967 and was ordained as a clergyman in 1970 .

Ittzés completed his vicariate from 1970 to 1971 in Kőszeg ( Güns ). In 1970 he married Reka Balázsi, with whom he has two sons.

In 1971 he became parish priest in Takácsi and in 1981 he returned to his vicariate Kőszeg in this capacity.

In 2000, János Ittzés was elected bishop of the western parish of the Hungarian Church. Since 2006 he has also been the leading bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary , succeeding Bishop D. Imre Szebik . In 2011 he retired.
