Csorna [ tʃornɒ ] ( German Gschirnau ) is a Hungarian city in Győr-Moson-Sopron County in western Transdanubia . It is the capital of the small area of the same name .
location
The place is located on the Raab-Ödenburger Bahn ( Győr - Sopron ) as well as the Hegyeshalom – Szombathely railway and the parallel European route 65 . Csorna is about 30 km west of Győr.
history
The place name comes from the Slavic stem černá , d. H. the black one. Until 1918 the place belonged to Ödenburg County .
The place is the seat of the Premonstratensian Provosty Csorna .
