Location and economy

The capital Malden borders directly on Nijmegen and can be viewed as a suburb on the southern edge of this city; Most of the residents of Malden commute to work in Nijmegen. The road to Venlo runs right through the village. The other places, beyond the A73 Nijmegen – Venlo motorway, which has an exit to Malden, are more to the west and are farming villages near the Meuse . Tourism is also important.

Marriët Mittendorff ( CDA ) has been in office since January 1, 2017, initially as provisional and from May 18, 2017 as official mayor. To their college include the Assistant Secretary Frank Eetgerink ( D66 ), Leo Bosland ( GroenLinks ), René Waas ( VVD ), Maarten Schoenaker (CDA) and the municipal secretary Dirk van Eeten.

Attractions

In Heumen's town center is the Evangelical Church , the oldest parts of which date from the 12th century. In Overasselt there is the varied nature area “Hatertse en Overasseltse Vennen” and the choir of the late Gothic St. Antonius Church . To the south and east of Malden lies an extensive forest area. In Overasselt there is a marina, several campsites and guest houses.
