Oost Gelre is a municipality in the Dutch province of Gelderland . It was created on January 1, 2005 from Groenlo and Lichtenvoorde . The new municipality has a total area of 110.12 km² and had 29,694 inhabitants on January 31, 2019, according to the CBS .

The municipality comprises the towns of Groenlo and Lichtenvoorde, where the municipal administration is temporarily based, and the villages of Lievelde, where the train station is on the Zutphen – Winterswijk railway line , Harreveld, Vragender, Zieuwent, Mariënvelde, Zwolle and a few smaller towns.
Location and economy
The municipality is located on the German border, in the east of the Achterhoek region , between Ruurlo in the west and Winterswijk in the east. The place used to be connected to the Lichtenvoorde – Bocholt railway line . Lichtenvoorde is an extensive village with small industrial and commercial enterprises and a lot of agriculture and fruit growing.

Annette Bronsvoort ( PvdA ) has been the acting mayor of the municipality since April 3, 2014 . To their college include the Assistant Secretary Jos Hoenderboom ( CDA ), Marieke Frank (CDA), Karel Bonsen ( VVD ), beard Porskamp (VVD) and the church secretary Marjan Nekkers.
Attractions
- In Lievelde there is the small open-air museum Erve Kots with a pancake restaurant. It is open from Easter to mid-October. There is also a sawmill operated by steam engines , which is maintained as a museum facility.
- A flower parade takes place in Lichtenvoorde every summer .
- Carnival is celebrated in Groenlo every year , and the town center has historical landmarks from the Eighty Years War , during which Groenlo was besieged several times.
