Joannes van Heumen

Joannes van Heumen (also Jan or Johann von Heumen ; * in Utrecht ; † August 26, 1673 in Rotterdam ) was a Dutch Roman Catholic clergyman and theologian .

Life

Heumen was born in Utrecht, studied theology and obtained the degree of Lic. Theol. In 1638 he appeared as pastor of Schoonhoven . He became apostolic protonotary and in 1642 pastor of the Laurentiuskirche in Rotterdam. He was also the cathedral capitular of the Archdiocese of Utrecht and finally in 1670 dean of the chapter. He was also archpriest for the Delft and Schiedam region .

Heumen is said to have distinguished himself during the plague period by personally taking care of the sick. He is also said to have been critical of the Jesuits .
