Protestantse Kerk (Heumen)
The Protestantse Kerk (also called Sint Joriskerk , German Sankt Georgskirche ) is the Protestant church of Heumen in the Dutch province of Gelderland .
history
The church, which was consecrated to St. George until the Reformation was introduced , was built around 1200 as a daughter church of St. Antonius Abbot in Overasselt . Its oldest parts consist of a single nave originally Romanesque flat-roofed nave from the 12th century. In the 14th century the nave was raised in Gothic style , again with a flat ceiling. The higher, late Gothic choir , closed on three sides , was added in the 15th century. The west tower consists of a wide base from the 14th century and a slimmer tower from the 15th century. While the Langahsu is plastered, the tower and choir show exposed brick .
The former Reformed parish belongs to the Protestant Church in the Netherlands, which was created in 2004 .
