Jánosné Keserű (birth name: Etelka Bérci ; born August 26, 1925 in Gyoma , Békés county ; † April 1, 2018 ) was a Hungarian politician of the Hungarian Socialist Workers' Party MSZMP (Magyar Szocialista Munkáspárt), who was minister for domestic trade between 1967 and 1971 and then from 1971 to 1980 Minister for Light Industry.

Life

Etelka Keserű, daughter of a master mason, worked as a bank clerk until 1944 after graduating from business school. In 1945 she joined the Communist Party KMP (Kommunisták Magyarországi Pártja) and worked between 1948 and 1949 as an employee in the cadre department of the Association of University and College Employees MEFESZ (Magyar Egyetemisták és Főiskolások Szövetsége) . In 1950 she began studying economics at the Karl Marx University of Economics MKKE (Marx Károly Közgazdaságtudományi Egyetem) , from which she graduated in 1952 with a diploma.
