The Jägerkaserne is a barracks of the Bundeswehr in Sonthofen , Bavaria . It was built in the 1930s and after its completion in 1936 was named "Jägerkaserne". The barracks are located close to the center in Mühlenweg.
history
After the completion of the approximately 13 hectare barracks, they were used by parts of the Mountain Infantry Regiment 99 of the 1st Mountain Division of the Wehrmacht . After the Second World War, the Bundeswehr took over the barracks. Until the completion of the Sonthofen town hall, it temporarily housed the Sonthofen town council until 1952. On April 1, 1956, the field equipment training battalion was set up in the Jäger barracks and on July 1, 1956 a first working staff for NBC defense was formed. In 1964 the "NBC defense school" was relocated to the Jägerkaserne and renamed the NBC and self-protection school . In 1968, a memorial was erected on the barracks grounds from the camaraderie of the Nebelwerfertruppe as a place of remembrance and a memorial against war and tyranny . Between 1998 and 2006, the Munich Regional Finance Office and the Kempten State Building Authority commissioned the rehabilitation of the property's wastewater disposal with a value of around EUR 2.9 million. As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr , it was announced in October 2011 that the barracks together with the Grünten barracks would be abandoned by 2018. The school NBC Defense and Legal Protection Tasks is to move with all other units stationed in Sonthofen to the Generaloberst Beck barracks .
