founding

The foundation was established in 2005 by the German Hunting Protection Association under the name Natur + Mensch Foundation . The current chairman of the board is Georg Graf Kerssenbrock Praschma, managing director André Vielstädte and chairman of the board of trustees Michael Storm . Jochen Borchert is the honorary chairman . The seat of the foundation is in Havixbeck.

The foundation aims to promote the development, preservation and protection of a species-rich and healthy animal world and the safeguarding of their livelihoods while preserving the national culture. Their special task is to counteract the increasing alienation of humans from nature through targeted educational and educational work.

The foundation promotes the dialogue between hunters and other social groups in order to improve mutual understanding and thus the exchange on sustainable solutions for the use of nature.

Projects and Actions

• Communication initiative “Naturally Hunting”: With this project, the Jägerstiftung would like to fulfill its statutory task of informing the public about hunting, nature and sustainable use. The communication initiative aims to increase the acceptance of hunting in society and thus also in politics. It focuses on addressing a broad public that has so far had little contact with hunting.
• Project “Lernort-Natur-Koffer”: The foundation has been involved in the nationwide initiative Lernort Natur with its Lernort-Natur-Koffer project for primary schools since 2007. Participating schools receive a themed case with material for adventure-oriented lessons in nature. Teachers are trained and supported by dedicated hunters.
• Research project "Forests, game and biological diversity": The influence of hoofed game on the species population and the survival of rare fungi, plants, insects and amphibians has so far hardly been scientifically investigated. As a result, roe deer and stag are often viewed unilaterally as "pests". A pilot study initiated by the foundation has now shown that the positive effects of hoofed game on biodiversity have so far been underestimated.
• Project jaeger-im-dialog.de : In 2010 the foundation set up a dialogue platform in the form of a group weblog under the title "hunters in dialog" to promote the exchange between hunters and non-hunters, but also between hunters of different stripes on socially virulent topics .

Awards

For the first time, the foundation announced the Wildlife-Friendly Agriculture Prize in December 2010 . The award is given to farms that operate in an innovative and responsible manner in a wild animal-friendly manner and thus secure the existence of wild animals in the cultivated land and promote biodiversity. The Wildlife-Friendly Agriculture Promotion Prize is under the patronage of Federal Minister Ilse Aigner .
