Jérôme Delbove (born November 11, 1974 in Troyes ) is a former French cyclist .

Career

As a youth driver, Delbove was able to attract attention for the first time in 1990 when he finished second in the French championship behind Benoît Salmon . As a 17-year-old, he started in the amateur class, where he was able to establish himself as a successful driver. In 1992 he finished second in the junior version of Paris-Roubaix . Two years later he won the Tour de la Somme one-day race . The victory in the Annemasse-Bellegarde et Retour race and third place at Paris-Auxerre in 1997 finally ensured that he was able to sign his first professional contract with Cofidis for the 1998 season at the age of 23 .

In Delbove's two years at Cofidis, however, the young Frenchman could hardly achieve any results worth mentioning. He just missed a success by finishing second on the fourth day of the Vuelta a Aragón in Spain in April 1999. During his time with the French team, he also took part in important races such as Paris-Tours or the Tour de Romandie . After his two-year contract was not renewed by Cofidis, Delbove switched to the newly founded Swiss racing team Phonak Hearing Systems for the 2000 season . Here he contested the Tour de Langkawi in February, and later the Tour de Romandie, the Germany Tour and the Tour de Suisse . Without having achieved a single place in the top ten in a race, he ended his career as a professional cyclist at the end of 2000.
