Jérôme Fenoglio

Jérôme Fenoglio (* 1965 in France ) is a French journalist . Fenoglio has been editor-in-chief of the Internet editorial office LeMonde.fr since June 2011 and was also elected editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Le Monde in April 2015 .

Life

Fenoglio started at Le Monde in 1991 and since then has held a wide variety of roles at the newspaper, particularly the Internet edition of the newspaper. He started out as a sports reporter, but then worked in society from 1997 to 1999 . During this time he became head of this department. In 2005 he also took over the science department . In 2007 he became deputy editor of Le Monde 2 , the weekend supplement of the daily newspaper.

In 2009 Fenoglio was promoted to the grands reporters department and, in June 2011, was elected editor-in-chief of LeMonde.fr , Le Monde's internet editorial office. This post was followed by his appointment as the newspaper's editorial director in May 2014. Under his leadership, the evening editorial team developed the “attractive” morning edition La Matinale for mobile phones and put it online.

In April 2015, the owners of the newspaper decided on Fenoglio to succeed the former editor-in-chief Natalie Nougayrède . Fenoglio is described as someone who, unlike his predecessor, “can both lead and communicate”. The choice by the owners had to be confirmed by at least sixty percent of the employees and took place on June 30, 2015.
