Jérôme Guihoata (born October 7, 1994 in Yaoundé ) is a Cameroonian football player .

Club career

Guihoata, who is versatile in addition to his traditional role as a central defender on the defensive, lived as a teenager in the Cameroonian capital Yaoundé and was trained at the Académie Yaoundé there. The technically strong player then played for an amateur club called Musango Yaoundé , also located in the city , before the then 18-year-old was signed by the French second division FC Tours in September 2013 . In this he was immediately included in the professional squad, but initially appeared mainly in the second team. He made his second division debut on November 29, 2013 when he was called up for the full 90 minutes in a 2-1 win against ES Troyes AC . In the following games he was able to maintain his place in the first team, but lost it again in early 2014 and at the end of the season he no longer played a role.

His involvement in Tours was short-lived as he was poached by second division rivals Valenciennes FC during the 2014 summer break ; no transfer fee was due. With the northern French, he came to regular appearances, but could not prevail as a regular player. In 2015, his contract was not renewed, after which he joined the also second-rate club Olympique Nîmes . After initial assignments, he missed a large part of the 2015/16 season.

National team

In spring 2012 Guihoata was in the squad of the U-17 national team in his home country. He made his first appearance for the Cameroonian national team at the age of 18 when he came on as a substitute on August 10, 2013 in a 1-0 defeat against Gabon in the 68th minute. At the time of the game, in which Cameroon failed to qualify for the 2014 African Nations Cup , he was still an amateur player in his home country. This was followed by his move abroad and he was temporarily no longer considered before he started wearing the national dress regularly from September 2014. He was part of the Cameroonian squad for the 2015 African Cup of Nations and was eliminated with his country in the group stage.
