Józef Świder
Józef Świder (born August 19, 1930 in Czechowice-Dziedzice , † May 22, 2014 in Katowice ) was a Polish composer .
Life
Józef Świder studied at the Music Academy of Katowice the subjects piano and composition . He then completed his composition skills with Goffredo Petrassi in Rome . He later returned to Katowice, where he became a professor of music theory and composition at the Music Academy. He also took over the management of the department for music education . He was a composer and member of the jury at the competitions of the Polish Choir Association. Świder has received numerous awards.
Works
Świd's extensive musical oeuvre includes three piano concertos, three operas, six oratorios, five masses, solo songs, piano and organ music, film and theater music, chamber music, pieces for wind ensemble and over 200 choral songs.
