Józef Javurek

Józef Javurek (actually Josef Javůrek , also Józef Jawurek , born October 2, 1756 in Beneschau , † July 22, 1840 in Warsaw ) was a Bohemian pianist, conductor and composer.

Jawurek has performed as a piano virtuoso in Vienna since 1792. He later lived as a piano teacher in Warsaw - a. a. he also gave lessons to Frédéric Chopin in the 1820s . He worked as music director of the Augustinian Church and conductor of the Academic Music Association. As a composer he was mainly known for pedagogically oriented piano works.
