Józef Kapuściński (born March 23, 1818 in Gorlice , † July 31, 1847 in Kleparów , Salisnyzja district ) was a Polish insurgent.

Józef Kapuściński went to the Jesuit School of Nowy Sacz . He became a member of the Polish Democratic Society (pln. Towarzystwo Demokratieyczne Polskie ). He was accused of planning an assassination attempt on the mayor Kasper Markl in Pilsen . He was arrested and sentenced to death.

On July 31, 1847, Józef Kapuściński and Teofil Wiśniowski were hung up on Mount Stracenia (Ukrainian: Gora Strat ) near Lemberg . In 1894 an obelisk was erected at this point, which still exists today.
