József Ács (* 1948 ) is a composer , pianist and organist with Hungarian roots.

At the age of nine, the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest accepted him as an "exceptional talent". He graduated from the academy with outstanding diplomas for organ , church music and composition . Generous scholarships enabled him to continue his studies as a pianist at the Robert Schumann Institute in Düsseldorf. In 1976 the artist won first prize for piano at the "German Music Competition" in the Beethoven Hall in Bonn. Engagements followed that took him to many important music centers around the world. One of the highlights of these trips was the concert in the Verdi Hall in Milan, where he performed the piano concerto "De profundis" by Franz Liszt , which he completed . Many concert tours and a. with his brother János Ács, the conductor, shape the artist. In 2000 the artist filmed a portrait documentary about his artistic career on Hungarian television - Duna ; this program is called Talentum and was broadcast worldwide.

His extraordinary skills on the piano and organ enable him to replace the sound of an orchestra. In addition to his work as a pianist and organist, József Ács runs his own music publisher “Musica Sacra”. His great musical role model was Franz Liszt, whose works he also preferred to play. Because of this he founded his own music society, the Franz Liszt Society Eschweiler eV, in 1982, in which he represents the musical direction.

József Ács found the Missa Solemnis (Gran Mass) by Franz Liszt in the Vatican version (1859) in the Vatican archives and published it for the first time in his music publisher. This fair premiered in Eschweiler in 2007 and then performed in Budapest, Esztergom (Hungary) and Salzburg. In 2010 the world premiere took place in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. With this, this mass has returned to the place of origin with a world premiere.

Most recently, József Ács has dealt with the works of the Italian composer Ruggero Leoncavallo . József Ács has reconstructed the “Requiem”, which Leoncavallo created only in fragments.

After intensive study of various works by Leoncavallo, primarily his dramatic opera music, almost the entire Requiem could be reconstructed and published. The world premiere took place in 2009 in Brissago / Switzerland, where Leoncavallo lived and worked for a long time.

József Ács has been married to musician Violetta Palatinus (opera and concert singer, flutist) since 1991. Their daughters are Johanna Ács and Franciska Ács.
