József Takács (born June 30, 1904 in Budapest ; † September 3, 1983 there ) was a Hungarian football player . The striker was five times Hungarian top scorer and led Ferencváros to victory in 1928 in the Mitropapokal , the forerunner of the European Cup.

József Takács played from 1917 to 1926 with Budapesti Vasas in the highest Hungarian league . After he was able to draw attention to himself as the top scorer of the championship in 1926, József Takács moved a season later to the Ferencvárosi Torna Club , one of the leading football clubs in the country at the time. In his first year with the “green eagles” he was able to win the Hungarian championship immediately in 1928 and become top scorer again. He became known in particular for his appearances in the 1928 Mitropa Cup .

József Takács reached the final with Ferencváros, where he met last year's finalists SK Rapid Wien . The first leg in Budapest could be clearly won 7-1, scoring three goals. The second leg in Vienna went 5-3 to Rapid, which was enough for Ferencváros to win the title. With 10 goals in the entire competition, József Takács was also able to receive the award of the best goalscorer. The striker remained active with the Green-Whites until 1934, was able to become champion two more times and top scorer three times. 1932 he got 42 hits in one season, Ferencváros was also able to win all 22 championship games. His hit rate in the national dress (26 goals in 32 appearances) was impressive; France's national goalkeeper Maurice Cottenet announced his resignation from the Équipe tricolore in 1927 after Takács had overcome him six times in a 13-1 win alone.
