The rural community Jõgeva (Estonian: Jõgeva vald , German also: Laisholm district ) is a rural community in the Estonian Jõgeva district . It surrounds the city of the same name, Jõgeva .

There are five large villages (Estonian alevikud ) and 36 villages (Estonian külad ) in the rural municipality of Jõgeva .
The big villages are called:
- Jõgeva (German: Laisholm)
- Vaimastvere (German: Waimastfer)
- Siimusti (German: Simus)
- Laiuse (German: Lais)
- Kuremaa (German: Jensel)
history
Two places in the municipality hold a special place in the history of Estonia.
On the then Gut Kärde ( Swedish Kardis , Russian Кардис) was on June 21 . / July 1, 1661 greg. the peace signed by Kardis - it sealed the Russo-Swedish War . Accordingly, the Russian tsarist empire had to cede the eastern areas of today's Estonia and Latvia to the Swedish crown.
