Jörg-Friedhelm Venzke (born May 25, 1952 in Hanover ) is a German geographer and professor of physical geography at the University of Bremen .

Life

Venzke studied geography, biology and educational science at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover for teaching . There he did his doctorate with a thesis on the geo-ecological characteristics of the desert areas of Iceland (1982). He became a university assistant and university lecturer at the University of Essen, where he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the geoecology of the boreal landscape zone. Terrain climatological and pedological studies in northern Sweden (1990). Since 1994 he has been professor for physical geography at the University of Bremen .

Jörg-Friedhelm Venzke's main research areas are the physiogeographical and functional aspects of boreal coniferous forests . He is heavily involved in teaching the bachelor's degree in Geography in Faculty 08 at the University of Bremen.
