Jörg-Peter Becker

Jörg-Peter Becker (born November 4, 1953 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German lawyer and former presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Career

Becker came in 1982 in the higher judicial service of the Free State of Bavaria , where he first at the district court of Aschaffenburg , at the Amtsgericht Aschaffenburg worked and to the prosecutor Aschaffenburg. In 1985 he was appointed public prosecutor at the Aschaffenburg public prosecutor's office. In 1988 he was appointed judge at the district court and transferred to the district court of Aschaffenburg. Between 1988 and 1991 Becker was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant . After moving to the Aschaffenburg district court as a judge in 1992, he joined the judicial service of Saxony-Anhalt in 1993 . There he worked initially as a judge and later as a presiding judge at the Naumburg Higher Regional Court .

In 2000 Becker was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. Here he was assigned to the 3rd Criminal Senate responsible for state security criminal matters. Since 2007 he has been deputy chairman of this Senate.

On April 15, 2008 Becker was appointed presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice. The court presidium has given him the chairmanship of the 3rd criminal senate. From July to December 2012, Becker initially assumed the chairmanship of the 2nd Criminal Senate in connection with the dispute over the position of Chairman of the 2nd Criminal Senate . From January 1, 2013, he was no longer chairman of the 3rd Criminal Senate, but only chaired the 2nd Criminal Senate until he took over the chairmanship of the 3rd Criminal Senate on July 1, 2013. Becker retired on October 31, 2018.
