Jörg Bartz (born June 19, 1965 in Beeskow ) was a long-time football player for BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt and its successor club Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl . For FC Stahl he played in the DFB Supercup in 1991 .

Career as a soccer player

Jörg Bartz started his football career like his twin brother Frank Bartz at the local company sports association (BSG) of the Beeskow chipboard plant . There both brothers last played in the fourth division Frankfurt district class and then moved to BSG Stahl Eisenhüttenstadt in the second-class GDR league . Here Jörg Bartz got off to a better start than his brother, who only made four goalless league appearances, while Jörg B. already played 13 games and scored two goals in his first second division season. By the summer of 1988 Jörg Bartz played 63 second division games, in which he scored four goals. Brother Frank made 59 appearances and six goals in the same period.

Before the start of the 1988/89 season, Jörg Bartz had to discontinue competitive sport on medical advice because he had been diagnosed with spinal damage. The BSG Stahl made it possible for him to work as a trainer in the junior division. Only at the beginning of the football season 1991/92 did he start playing football again after missing the two league seasons and the 1991 cup final of the Eisenhüttenstadt team. In the meantime, the company sports association had transformed into Eisenhüttenstädter FC Stahl, but failed to make it into the DFB professional leagues.

By participating in the last GDR Cup final, FC Stahl had qualified for the DFB Supercup 1991 and the competition for the Cup Winners' Cup 1991/92. The convalescent Jörg Bartz was only used in the semi-final game of the Supercup on July 31, 1991 against the Bundesliga club Werder Bremen . In the 0-1 lost game he played 90 minutes as a central midfielder, from the 65th minute together with his brother Frank. Both brothers played for Eisenhüttenstadt until 1999 in the third-class Oberliga Nordost and from 1994 Regionalliga Nordost . Then they were active as a recreational footballer for the national league club SV Vogelsang until 2010 and then moved to FSV Dynamo Eisenhüttenstadt.
