Jörg Hertel

Jörg Hertel (born September 30, 1962 in Schlema ) is a German photographer , travel writer, publicist and guitarist . He is at home in Leipzig .

Life

After graduating from school, Jörg Hertel completed an apprenticeship as a maintenance mechanic from 1979 to 1981. From 1982 to 1986 he worked as a cemetery gardener and gravedigger, from 1984 to 1986 he studied church youth social work in Potsdam (without a degree). From 1991 to 1993 he completed training as a design social therapist.

From 1979 to 1991 Hertel was active as a songwriter, lyricist and guitarist in the studio and on stage. In 1987 he had his first of numerous publications in magazines and anthologies. From 1991 Hertel realized various artistic projects: rock music with Thomas Ihl, musical-literary solo program, "Klangbilder" (music-image-installation), "Little Big Noise OHRchestra" (garbage art music). He was also active as a composer and musician in a free theater group. In 1994 he started as a freelance lecturer for music therapy and perception training and gave courses, lessons and seminars. In the same year he realized the international audio project "Long Ears - The Easter Island", and the first several months' trips to the South Pacific followed.

With that, Hertel finally discovered his passion for long long-distance travel - and he found his way to turn the hobby into a job and a livelihood. Jörg Hertel began to work as a travel reporter: he takes extensive photographs on his travels and, shortly after his return home, offers travel lectures of 60 to 120 minutes in length. In doing so, he is entertainingly broadens the horizons of his audience in / on museums, cultural centers, youth clubs, seminars, company celebrations, health resorts, bookshops, libraries, travel agencies, cruises and trade fairs; He also publishes thematically appropriate books and CDs and designs photo exhibitions.

After 20 years as a "professional traveler", Jörg Hertel currently (2014) offers travel lectures on the following topics, regions and countries (selection): Easter Island, With the cargo ship through the South Seas, Tahiti, Hawai'i, New Zealand, Hong Kong, New York, Moscow, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Mexico City, Panama City, Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego, Chile, Nepal, From Kathmandu to the Himalayas, Expedition Canada - Greenland - Iceland, Santorin, Malta, The Azores as well as celestial structures and coastlines - An den Edges of this world.
